The ¹ú²úÊÓƵ's netball team has been crowned national Trophy Champions.
The University's 1st team beat Nottingham Trent University 63-50 in the Trophy Final of the British Colleges and Universities (BUCS) Big BUCS Wednesday contest.
Worcester's Abigail Coward was voted as Player of the Game, nominated by Nottingham Trent.
Director of Netball at the University, Sheli Morgan, said: "Representing the ¹ú²úÊÓƵ at Big BUCS Wednesday in the Netball Trophy Final was a fantastic achievement for the team, and to go on and win Gold is incredible. The girls have worked so hard both on and off court this year to create a team that is both physically and mentally strong... and that hard work has paid off with a League and Cup double.
"The game was fast and physical throughout, but Worcester were able to capitalise on Nottingham Trent errors and convert them into vital goals. Worcester took the lead from the first centre pass of the game and never looked back.
"Winning at Big BUCS Wednesday highlights how far the Netball programme at the ¹ú²úÊÓƵ has come in the last four years."
As well as the Trophy Championship, the 1st team also came top of Division 1A, qualifying them for the play-offs to the Premier North League. In addition, the University's 2nd team were also League winners and cup finalists; the third team were League winners and semi-finalists in the cup, and the 4th team were second in the League and quarter-finalists.
Netball is the largest female sport club at the University, with four teams and levels of recreational, development and performance netball. There are also elite opportunities for students to play with top flight Worcester Reds Netball Club.
The University also has a track record of hosting national and international netball events including the Netball Super League Final and an England and South Africa International Fixture, at the ¹ú²úÊÓƵ Arena.
