¹ú²úÊÓƵ student Matthew Hudson-Smith has his sights set on the men's 400m relay in Rio this weekend.
The Physical Education and Sports Coaching student made it into the men's 400-metre final at the Rio Olympics this weekend, finishing in a time of 44.61 seconds, putting him in 8th position.
He will now compete in the men's 4x400m relay this weekend.
The 21-year-old 2014 European silver medallist set a new personal best of 44.48 seconds in the semi finals of the individual race.
Mick Donovan Head of the University's Institute of Sport and Exercise Science said: "To see Matthew compete in the Olympic 400m final was wonderful. He has achieved so much at the University during the past two years whilst also preparing for the Games in Rio.
"We are all united in wishing him good luck for the relay this weekend."
The heats will take place in the early hours of Saturday morning (UK time) with the final in the early hours of Sunday.
