The Worcester Wolves have confirmed their fourth player signing ahead of their debut season in the British Wheelchair Basketball Women’s Premier League as Ellan Fraser.
Ellan joins Catherine Yearron, Amber Loughlin and Sarah Hope, who have all put pen to paper with the Worcester Wolves this season.
Ellan, who is a Classification 3.0 athlete, started competing in Wheelchair Basketball in 2015 and since then, has represented the Warwickshire Bears. In 2019/20, she also played for the Blackhawks in the Women’s first division and she also plays for the West Midlands junior team.
In 2018, Ellan won the Junior Para-sports Person of The Year in the Stratford-on-Avon District Sports Awards. She was presented with the Jean Ratcliffe Award for contribution and development within wheelchair basketball on and off the court by British Wheelchair Basketball in 2019. And in 2021, Ellan competed in the School Games and came away with the silver medal.
Worcester Wolves began announcing their player signings last week ahead of the inaugural British Wheelchair Basketball Women’s Premier League.
Ellan told of her excitement at joining the Worcester Wolves and getting on court with her new teammates. “I’m so excited to be playing for Worcester Wolves,” she said. “The team are a great group of girls and I’m really glad to be part of the first Women’s Premier League!”
Worcester Wolves Managing Director, Mick Donovan, is very happy with the acquisition of Ellan. He said: “We are pleased to be welcoming Ellan to our Wolves team.
She has already demonstrated her potential at regional level and we look forward to seeing her make a significant impact in the High Performance Pathway.”
The League will be the first of its kind for women’s wheelchair basketball in the world, and the very first professional para-sport league in the UK.
The ¹ú²úÊÓƵ will be one of four High-Performance Partnerships, which also include Cardiff Metropolitan University, Loughborough University and the University of East London, that will each be home to a women’s premier league team.
The club will be making further announcements over the coming weeks. Keep up to date with all things Worcester Wolves across their social media channels and website.
