“I have never been a particularly academic person but nursing is something I am so passionate about,” said Beccy. “I put all my efforts into this course and achieving First Class Honours is an amazing feeling.

“I received my NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) Pin in February 2020, just before the pandemic reached its first peak. It was a scary time to be newly qualified, but I worked within an amazing and supportive team and I learnt so much during those first few months - having to adapt to a completely new way of working.”

Since finishing her degree, Beccy has been working as a staff nurse on an acute stroke unit. “I absolutely love my job,” Beccy added. “In the future I hope to study for a Master’s and would love to work towards becoming a clinical nurse specialist.”

And despite the pressure of finishing her course and starting her career in the midst of a global pandemic, Beccy has many fond memories of her time at the ¹ú²úÊÓƵ.

“The ¹ú²úÊÓƵ has a really good reputation for its Nursing course,” she said. “One of my best memories of the course was completing a nursing placement in Tanzania. It was an experience I will never forget and have so many cherished memories from. Once the pandemic is over I would encourage any future students to get involved with global experiences, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
